Kit was a founder of Trimble Navigation (TRMB:Nasdaq), Sunnyvale California, a
leading innovator of GPS technology and its integration with other location and communications technologies addressing a variety of emerging commercial and consumer markets.
While at Trimble, Kit held positions as Vice President Manufacturing Operations (1979-1986); Vice President Marine Products Division (1986-92); and Vice President Corporate Marketing & Communications (1993-1998). She is co-author of three patents developed at Trimble.
From 2000 to 2003, she had her own business as a marketing and brand consultant. Her clients ranged from a start-up in the national mass transit business to a leading day spa in Northern California. During that same period, she served on the board of the Palo Alto Art Center, a public-private cooperation between the City of Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Art Center from 2000-2003.
She is married to celebrated drummer John Ware. They moved from Los Altos Hills CA to Denver CO in 2003. They are deeply involved in music, art, and philanthropy.
Kit has been a trustee of the University of California Santa Cruz Foundation since 2003 and a member of the Executive Committee since 2005.
She attended Colorado College and Pomona College in the 60s with majors in mathematics, German, English, and anthropology. She returned to academic life in 1974 as a single mother of three children, ages 3, 3, and 4. She received her B.A. in applied social anthropology at UCSC in 1975 and attended Santa Clara University School of Law 1978-82.
